 As algae are increasingly marketed on the basis of their sustainability, environmental and health benefits, EU rules on claims are becoming more important. This chapter covers the forthcoming EU Green Claims Directive, the Empowering Consumers Directive, and the existing framework under which misleading sustainability claims may be challenged.
